Character counter

Count characters before text hits a limit

This character counter measures the length of text as you edit it. It helps with metadata, usernames, form fields, advertisements, social posts, database columns, and any workflow where a strict character allowance matters.

When this tool helps

  • Check a page title or meta description against an editorial limit.
  • Measure a caption, short bio, product label, or form response.
  • Compare counts with and without spaces before submitting text.

How to get a reliable result

  1. Paste the exact final text, including punctuation and spaces.
  2. Check which count definition your destination uses.
  3. Edit the copy and watch the count until it fits comfortably below the limit.

Practical example

The phrase “Free tools” contains 10 characters when the space is included and 9 when spaces are excluded.

Important note

Some platforms count emoji, combined Unicode characters, or line breaks differently. Treat the local count as a drafting aid and verify critical limits in the destination.
